Co-factors in cytomegalovirus
The following lists are not meant to be complete. We have given you some starting points intended to spur your own inquiries into preventing and curing cytomegalovirus.
Cytomegalovirus (CMV), a member of the herpes family, is a virus that infects cells and causes them to become enlarged. It is usually a "silent" infection, meaning that no signs or symptoms are evident, and is the most common virus transmitted to unborn children. The Center for Disease Control estimates that approximately 1 in every 150 babies is born infected with CMV, and that 50% to 80% of adults in the United States are or have been infected with CMV by the time they reach 40 years of age. Anyone can become infected with cytomegalovirus.
